Often mobile devices can limit an app’s resources when it is put into the background - when you are using another app, or have locked your device screen, for example.
If you are experiencing issues with playback stopping, here are some things you can try:

Disable battery saver settings for the NTS app in your device settings
Allow the NTS app to consume mobile data when in the background through your device settings
Close other apps as your device may be running low on memory and affecting the functionality of backgrounded apps to save space
Restart your device
